• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Compiler Error Message

I successfully converted half-a-dozen FS9 aircraft to statics and was delighted with the results SAMM was giving. Unfortunately, I suddenly started to receive the following error message in a window with the title "Compiler Error Output" whenever I tried to "Save BGL" on further conversions:

INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR C1003: Failed to create MSXML object! (0x80040154)

Parsing document: D:\Program Files\SAMM\Models\Jag-GR1 XX750_AL No.14 Sqn\Jag-GR1 XX750_AL No.14 Sqn.xml

ERROR C2470: Unrecoverable error parsing XML!
ERROR C2006: Parse failed (0x80004005)
ERROR C2003: Failed to process file: D:\Program Files\SAMM\Models\Jag-GR1 XX750_AL No.14 Sqn\Jag-GR1 XX750_AL No.14 Sqn.xml

I tried deleting SAMM and re-installing but to no avail. Just out of interest, I then went back to aircraft I'd already converted successfully and again received the above error message.

Any help in getting SAMM working again appreciated
Pete

Pete, I've never seen it before and no one else has reported anything similar. The message is generated by the compiler directly. Did you do anything to SAMM or your computer between the last good compile and the first bad one?

Don,
The first thought that came into my head was, "what have I changed?" but I couldn't think of anything. However, I have cured the problem without ever finding out what caused it.

When no quick answer was forthcoming here on the forum, I did some Google-ing on bglcomp error messages and, via an Avsim forum, was directed to the Microsoft site to download and install MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (I've since found a Service Pack 3 also exists) which cured the problem.

As I said, I've still no idea what caused the problem in the first place but installing - or, presumably, re-installing - MSXML did the trick.
