• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I need some advice from the group.

I have tried to get started in scenery design but I have no idea where to start. Like most beginners I have lurked the forums and downloaded everything and now I am totally confused about what is the best tool package to use.

I am looking for latest and best tools that will work with FS2004. Some people say to use tools that were used with FS2000.
I just don't know where to start.

I have used both Exclude Builder and Instant Scenery for minor tweeks but I want to be able to make major corrections.

SBuilder looks good and well supported but I cannot get it to work. Is there another program that will do the same things.

Knowing what you know now, what programs would you start with?

Well I'm off to try once again to try to get SBuilder to work.

Hi Dale...tell me a bit more about what you what to accomplish. You may be interested in making objects to put into your scenery, or you may be more interested in decorating the terrain with photo-ground imagry, or you may want to change partking areas and taxiarrangements at airports...or or or....

Nowadays, you need to be familier with a variety of tools overall, but I always recommend you start small...pick one interst and enjoy the learning process. Many folks here will help.

So...what would you most enjoy doing to start with?

Thanks for the reply Bob.

My main concern is correcting the mess that AutoGen has made of West Texas.

MS has left out several small settlements and has installed multiple story office buildings in towns where the only buildings over 3 stories are churches and courthouses.

I finally got Sbuilder installed through v5.0 so that should help some. I just cannot get v6 update to run. I keep getting a runtime error and have no idea where it is.

When I use ExcludeBuilder to remove buildings that should not be there is always a trace where the building stood that looks like the foundation so I am not that happy with ExcludeBuilder.

I have been using Ground24K, Instant Scenery, and EZ Landclass with mixed success.

I guess what I am really looking for is a list of what tools others are using.
