• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Convair 440 P3D/MSFS

Finally found some time to work on my projects.
I have been working on modeling the landing gear of the CV440 :)

I want to make a VC but the thing is, I am terrible at them, and before I am at the same level of skills as the exterior it will take a long time :P
So as with most of my near future releases they will initially not have any VC's but that doesn't mean they aren't planned in the future.

Just doing some cockpit shape updates.
I have big PBR plans for this bird :)

Nailed those cockpit windows.

Don't know how much you've cursed during the process, but I did a lot while working on those of my unfinished model.

Thanks ! :)

Not that much cursing..... lots of violently shutting Blender down and not looking at it for a number of days or weeks :)
That cockpit section is one weird shape :P

Osian

Any news of this Project? Would like to see it released it looks very nice and is sorely needed for P3D4/5 users.

I have no more plans to develop for P3D.
This project is not dead but will be transferred to MSFS in the future.
Currently working on the Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation.
This is likely the followup project after that one, though no guarantees.

Please read my previous answer to the last question.
But I guess I can provide a small update on the state of things.
Keep in mind this is not my main project at the moment.

An early stage VC has been in the works

Stole some cabin assets from my Fokker 26 project to fill the cabin a bit, this will be refined in the future.

Currently using the shorter nose configuration, though both will be available in the future.

Last major rework was the wing, this is being remodeled from scratch, but as you can see, its not finished yet.

That's all for now.

Hey everyone,

I know it’s been quiet regarding this project.
life has thrown some personal challenges my way, which pulled me away from 3D modeling for a few years.
Lately, though, I’ve slowly been getting back into it.
No promises, but I’ve made some progress on the wings—honestly, that’s a big step for me right now, and it feels good to be working on it again.
I still hope the CV440 will eventually make its way into MSFS, but for now, I appreciate your patience.

How does one not disappoint the community any further and actually finish something?
I've never been able to release anything ever.
Many previews and announcements, nothing finished.... truly disappointing.
How does one remain interested in their own projects?

Any tips and tricks from any of you seasoned developers?

Thanks!

I would say it depends generally on a team, or just having an exceptionally talented and consistently motivated solo act. High expectations are placed on addons these days, and I've heard and seen many developers mention that they can knock out a detailed visual model in six months, but then spend another year or more just on avionics implementation, and that's even before the testing stage. A developer has to be talented in modeling, systems programming, sound development, flight dynamics, and technical writing if going solo, or they need to leverage a team to do so to see something across the finish line.

If you're finding that you maybe took on too large of a project, especially for an anticipated first release, I would find a light aircraft that you are exceptionally interested in, and pursue that, then come back to the Convair.

Remember, these days users are expecting:

  1. 99%+ accurate and implemented systems, to include failures.
  2. 4K+ texture definition even in minor areas.
  3. WWise sounds.
  4. Fly exactly according to the flight manual / real flight data.
  5. Be able to be used with the real flight manual.
  6. A repaint kit + variety of included liveries.
