• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Creating lakes

I would like to create a lake in FSX....But don't know what to do to start....
Can someone please explain how I would go about creating a lake....

Fire up SbuilderX, make a polygon tagged Hydro_Generic_Lake_Perennial, set the elevation, export a .bgl.

All contingent upon whether you have SBuilderX installed and working it could be a 5 minute job or a week long job, lol. You need the SDK installed, it's version must match the sim version (FSX+Accel = Accel SDK required), download & install SBuilderX, SBuilderX has a bit of a learning curve, etc.

Thx for the info....I will download it.....It may take a while for me to get it right....

Biggest thing for me when I first fired up Sbuilder (9) was "whereinthehellami syndrome", so when you get it working go to the area where you want the lake in the sim, then start SBuilderX, start a new project, then choose View > Show aircraft from the SBX menu. That'll center the sbuilder map (or lack thereof) where you want to do your work. Then choose View > Show background and SBX will download some imagery for the area. Now you can see where you are.

Great thanks.....I'll give that a try when I try it out in the morning.....
I downloaded it, and have been messing around with it some already....
Its a little complicated, but i'm getting it down.....
