• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hmm, I only try them out when it's a real release. Though no real improvements for us in particular will be made, it's wise to keep up with the current version.

I agree, we can use improvements. Most important anyway is the Blender2FSX toolset.

The primary reason I upgrade is for the bug fixes. I use blender for other projects that arent related to FS and have encountered bugs in some ventures.

Do others experience this? The new Blender (2.70) is freakingly slow when running in Texture shaded mode. It's not my laptop, with previous versions I had no issues.

It's really slow, I can't grab and move anything around, or pan or anything when I have my Fokker with texture shading on. Not quite useful..

Let me have a look. Havent used tex shade yet. When you say texture shade your referring to Texture Paint mode or viewport shader?

Hmm. Texture paint isnt working. Must be missing something.
Nm...need to revisit texture paint.

Anyhow I checked a few shaders and they are working for me. Texture viewport shader has minimal lag for me but im not using custom textures or anything. Is there another name for what you are trying to use? Texture shader isnt ringing any bells atm outside the viewport shader.

Note: What render are you on? BI or CY?

Checked against blender internal and bingo, more lag with texture shader viewport.

Yeah, I'm sorry, it's the viewport shader, BI. It appears with the 4096 textures I use for the Fokker externals. With 1024, no real problems as far as I observe.

Send me your file. Im not seeing anything in my test. 4096 texture sheet. How many verts/tria/faces you have?

Send me your file.
Hm, no offense, but I won't;)

Im not seeing anything in my test. 4096 texture sheet. How many verts/tria/faces you have?
The layer with the external model has 28 objects, 9415 verts, 9975 faces, 14928 tri's. Here the 4096 sheets are.
The second layer, without issues (!), has 69 objects, 18810 verts, 15536 faces, 31205 tri's. But here are only 1024 tex sheets.

I guess it's in the texture resolution?!

IT may be. Try using a different size or a different texture of the same size. IF that doesnt clear up, there wont be much that can fix it short of the file itself, unfortunately. I understand the need to with-hold it, so no offense taken. Trying to help.

I tested with 4096 and no issues, however not as large a file as yours. I will try a larger scene and replace textures with larger versions to see if I get the same.

Update: replicated your issue. Will test in older version
Also same 2.69, 2.68, 2.67

What are ur pc specs?

Thanks! Previous versions didn't have this, I was able to fly around in Blender (which feature has changed now I believe) the entire model without any problem.

My PC is fairly good, I'd say. I've got a HP Elitebook 8570w Workstation:
i7-3610QM 2.30 GHz
8 GB RAM
64-bit
Video: Quadro K1000M

Runs FSX smoothly btw, I even notice frames up to 130, but lock them at 24.

This only occurred in BI. Cycles I had really no lag. It occurred in all versions from 2.67 through 2.7 on my machine. What format is your texture?

The 2.71 release introduces the ability to bake textures using Cycles, which is reason enough to make the jump IMO.
