• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS24 Custom MSFS2020 fuel truck missing in MSFS2024

In my MSFS2020 EFHF scenery I have a custom-made small fuel truck. It works perfectly in MSFS2020. It can be called from the ground services an will arrive and open the fueling screen and can be sent back to its original position. When I load this scenery in MSFS2024 everything else is ok, but the fuel truck is completely missing and can not be called. I also have a custom windsock in the same scenery and it loads and animates ok in MSFS2024.

Any ideas what I need to change to make it work also in MSFS2024?

Hello:

You may wish to review some options discussed in this thread:

Hi,
Yes, thanks, I have indeed seen that but it has absolutely nothing to do with my problem. As I said, my fuel truck is custom made and part of the scenery, it has no default objects in it. Hand made in Blender by myself. All the necessary cfg and xml parts are there and it works perfectly in MSFS2020, but not in MSFS2024. Must be some difference in how 20 and 24 handles the services and/or fuel trucks or certain simobjects but I haven't been able to track it down myself.... I have also made a post about this in the devsupport forum.

A post at AVSIM had this to say:

In 2024, open ATF window and select ground services. Then select for to call for the fuel truck. It will take minutes for the truck to arrive, but eventually it will and it will connect the hose. A window will open where you can select how much fuel and where. When you're fueled, the truck will retract the hose and park in front to the side. If you don't move for a minute or so, then the fuel truck will drive away."

AFAIK, Fuel functionality may vary with the aircraft type as well (...but perhaps you were already aware of this ?).

I would also try to find another freeware custom Fuel Truck that works as a functional refueling object that can be called in MSFS 2024, to see how it differs from your own.

IIUC, most MSFS users use GSX and merely change liveries, so your project may be rather unique.

BTW: I did find your prior showcase thread and watched the video; Malmo for 2020 looks excellent. :-)

As I said - the truck is completely missing and does not work in MSFS2024. It just isn't there... I know exactly how to call it, but as there is no truck then there is no possibility to call it...

So, when you state that your MSFS 2020 custom Fuel Truck is "missing", do you mean that it is not displayed at any assigned spawn location when Malmo loads in MSFS 2024, and it does not appear as an option to be selected, thus it does not arrive because it could not be 'called' ?

Are you able to 'call' a default Fuel Truck at Malmo in MSFS 2024 without your scenery loaded into \Community2024 folder ?

If so, do you have to wait 15 to 30 minutes or more for that Fuel Truck ?

FYI: My colleague and me had to do this IRL preparing for flying a GA aircraft when a Pump kiosk was out of order at our departure airport).

Just to clarify: that is the scenario, even if you wait 15 to 30 minutes or more (...which my colleague and I have had to do IRL in preparation for flying a GA aircraft when the Pump kiosk was out of order at our departure airport).

This is not Malmö!!! It is the historical Helsinki-Malmi (EFHF). And yes, exactly, the model is not spawning at the location (the only vehicle parking) where it should be and where it spawns in MSFS2020. No model, nothing to call, nothing to wait for as it can not be called. There are no other fuel trucks, and there is no option to call a fuel truck in '24 in my scenery... I am not interested in default trucks, I want my model to work as it does in '20.

EDIT: Now I tried my EFMA and EFTP and EFTU sceneries, and it seems that even the default fuel trucks do not work. And actually no fuel trucks anywhere, even on default airports. Have tried with three different plane models. Something is very wrong here, I believe it has nothing to do with my scenery. I will continue testing with vanilla MSFS2024 now...

Sorry for the typo; I did intend to reference EFHF, and did see your custom Fuel Truck moving in your 2020 Helsinki-Malmi video.

I do understand your goal is to get your custom Fuel Truck to display and work properly.

I asked about any default Fuel Truck options at Helsinki-Malmi to see if any existed before they were "excluded" by your own scenery.

If default Fuel Truck were not "excluded" by your scenery, perhaps another package from ex: flightsim.to may have done so; if so ...'how'.

If default Fuel Truck options existed at Helsinki-Malmi before they were "excluded", I would explore precisely how they were "excluded".

I may consider this info from Google AI:

I plan to take a look tomorrow at your 2020 Helsinki-Malmi scenery in MSFS 2020.

I'm curious what might be seen at Helsinki-Malmi with SDK DevMode Debug info on screen, and what your Fuel Truck coding involves.:scratchch

Would I be correct that you have tested for presence at Helsinki-Malmi of the (unwanted ?) coding type addressed by this thread ?

Note my edit above! There is a updated version of EFHF in the works and will be published as soon as I solve the fuel truck problem.

Ah, yes, that might explain what has impacted your scenery. :)

FYI: Just today I noticed this example package at flightsim.to:

https://flightsim.to/file/94760/hide-ground-services-all-airports

It may be the author is proceeding carefully; but some of the links on the Google search page posted above explain how to limit by ICAO.

Certainly may be worth looking into. :scratchch

Well, I must turn in now, as it is late here in USA Central time zone.

Good Luck. ;)

Confirmed! Some other third-party add-on completely disables fuel truck services!!! The custom fuel truck at EFHF and the default fuel trucks used in my EFTU and EFTP sceneries work perfectly when only my own sceneries are in the community folder. Now I just have to find the culprit.... Thank you for you help @GaryGB

Unbelievable. I removed (using Addons Linker) all addons except my own add-ons. Everything works. Then adding groups of addons and restarting the sim after every change until I had ALL my addons active. Several hours. Everything works. Now I am back at the add-on configuration I had previously, when the trucks did not work. And everything works. So no idea whatsoever what caused the missing fuel trucks.... Well, most important thing is that they are working now...
