• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Defining the limits of the work.

Hello!

Good morning.

I need to work in a very ample sector, of the possible most complete way. That ample sector this including in default file cvx2951.bgl (this is a portion of the great island of Tierra Del Fuego).

For which I must delimit strictly that zone in Google Earth.

I believe that the limit of the file cvx2951.bgl is a LOD 5.

It would want to know if I am doing the correct thing, when fixing the limits of the work to a LOD5. In this work I am going to modify coastlines of rivers, seas and lakes, the height of the Lakes, landclass, etc.

Until now always I worked in small portions of land, in a dimension of LOD9, but it costs to me much to solve the subject of the limits between each LOD9 and I cannot avoid that the imperfections of the work are seen.

I am going to be thankful for much your aid and its recommendations.

Best regards

carlos

Dear Carlos:

I'm working on a big area scenery with vectors and polygons and i haven't had problems with LOD boundaries.

Just make a big scenery and exclude the default vector scenery.

If you need help please ask me.

Thanks.

Also Microsoft used QMID11-sized areas...that is why in TMFViewer you will see many QMID11-sized polygons.

There is a thread here at FSDev from way back, in which Doug Matthews of ACES commented on "why QMID11 size?".

Carlos,

I am looking at your SAMPLE.ZIP (Z02C) example and see that you've dealt with the QMID11 problem before with your islands near Buenos Aires. How did you set Google Earth up so that you could trace the shorelines and create the required ocean polygon?

I am specifically referring to this thread: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?p=40546

Thank you,

J-
