• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Departure Time Problem

Using XP with SP3, FS2004, and the new AIFP 1.6.25. I start by clicking the New FP button.
Then I collect the FS9 Aircraft. I have the (UTC) Greenwich Mean Time Zone. I choose 4 hr and IFR, ect.
Now the problem: On the first leg, I type KSAN with departure time of 00:00 or 0:00 and am allowed to continue on typing KLAX as the destination airport and completing the first leg. Now, IF I type in the departure time of 08:30 or 14:30 or any other time beside 0:00, I get a pop up window stating Departure Time Invalid!! I have tried other airports and other time zones with the same results. Only 0:00 or 00:00 is accepted.
Anyone have a suggestion?? Appreciate any help

Don will be better able to answer this, but for now can you ignore the warning and finish the plan? Also a screeshot would help.

Bob

If you set your repeat period at 4 hours, it means that the plane will have to go and return within every 4 hours, over and over. You would therefore have to start your leg at 00:30 for instance.

flynby,

Guess I'm not much help. If you want a flight to leave at a particulatr time, like 8:30, then you would use a 24 hr repeat period. At best a 12 hr period. But this is no different than Ttools. I always write plans that repeat as often as possible to get AI to my airports. So, there is no problem with what you are doing , it's an FS thing.
So what is the real flightplan you are tyring to set up?

Bob

Sorry for not jumping in sooner, but I took an extra long weekend.

As Bob has suggested, 08:30 is not a valid time in a FP with a 4hr repeat period. But, you should be able to replace it with any value between 00:00 and 03:59, not just 00:00.

Thank all of you guys for trying to help. I decided to continue using Ttools since it works in both FS9 and 10.

I think you mean that it is not valid in AIFP. It is valid in TTools so long as the flight time is less than 2 hours.

In fact AIFP will compile the following 2 hour repeat TTools flight plan:

AC#1,G-METO,1%,2Hr,VFR,10:00:00,10:15:00,050,F,0028,EGOW,11:00:00,11:15:00,050,F,0037,EGOW

Yes, I know, George. But the end result is the same - a flight that departs every four hours irrespective of the departure time specified.

I felt that such a situation would likely prompt some confusion, so I limited the time to values .

Thanks Don. Here is what I am looking at. My airport is VVDN or Danang. When I start FS9 and select Danang, the default GMT time is "Day at 04:41:50" and I select 4 Hours in the Ttools flightplan. I have a AI departing Danang at 04:44:00, 3 minutes after FS9 gets loaded up. I cannot use 00:00 to 03:59 to create the same AI flightplan as I understand using AIFP. Am I correct or not?
Appreciate all the help.

I don't understand why you reference FlightSim start time and therefore, I'm not sure I understand the question, flynby.

If you select a 4 hr repeat period, the flight operates every four hours (and must return within a four hour period), irrespective of the start time you specify. Therefore AIFP limits you to times between (inclusive) 00:00 and 03:59 for specifying departure and arrival times. Visualize the repeat period as, in this case, a 4-hour day. In the case of a 6-hr repeat, the limits would be 00:00 and 05:59 and the flight would operate 4 times a day

If, for example, you specify a departure time of 02:00 with a 4 hr repeat, the flight will depart at 02:00, 06:00, 10:00, 14:00, 18:00 and 22:00. The return flght may depart in the same period, e.g., 03:15 or in the next period 00:25+1 (just as would be the case for an over-midnight flight).

If you want a flight to depart at 04:44 and have a 4-hour repeat, then specify a departure time as 00:44. If you want the flight to depart at only 04:44 (and not at 00:44, 08:44 etc.), use a 24 hr repeat period.

Hope this is what you were looking for.
