• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Determining glide slope angle

First is there a way? and if so what would be the best method?
Of determining the glideslope angle of a destination from information within the sim. There's nothing generated by makerwys for example. Nine times out of ten it's 3deg. so that's not a problem but occasionally one comes across an airport like Innsbruck that has a GS of 3.8 deg
London City being another extreme example. I'm trying to find a way of automating the calculation of the FAP. Final Approach point fix.
The difference for example between 3deg and 3.8deg is 5nm. That's too much of an error margin.
Any ideas welcome, thanks.

You could use the law of sines.

Not sure how you could incorporate it with XML or other coding, but here is how you can apply it to a glide.

You have to know the height of capturing and the distance from the ils when starting to descend on the glide.

Thanks but it's a bit more obscure/complex than that. Whilst the capture altitude is a known factor and it's an easy formula
for 3deg e.g. ((QNH altitude-airport elevation/3)/100) gives me the FAP. I can do that until the cows come home. What I need to obtain from the sim
is the actual reported angle. There is (A:NAV RAW GLIDE SLOPE ) but I can't get it to work. and also I would want it to be reported through FSUIPC.
