• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Dick, is there a new server for Google?

Hi Dick, it has become impossible for me to get anything done with Google satellite imagery. I am extremely grateful for the other sources available thru the 3.14 version, which has enabled me to do the whole of Puerto Rico and nearby islands, but there are other areas of the world where Google still is the best source.
I just spnet the last 1 1/2 hours trying, but SbuilderX 3.14 crashes every time when attempting a download at this coordinates:
-09.174079
-76.001836

So I was wondering if there is a newer version of the server that we can try?
Thanks, Bernardo.

Hi Bernardo.

There wouldn't be any reason for SBuilderX to crash due to a tile from Google. I just downloaded tiles at LOD18 (the maximum for this area), and made a map. It worked fine for me. The bitmap was pretty big, and I think 2GB might be a bitmap limitation (not sure of that).

I can Make a new DLL for Google, but I don't think it will help, and I don't think the imagery will be different for this area.

Hi Bernardo.

GoogleServer_v165 is now made. It seems to have different imagery, but maybe not better? It can go to LOD 19.

I wonder if you found an area where the maximum LODs of the tiles is different? Maybe that would cause a problem.

When using a new GoogleServer.dll, The old tile folders for Google should be deleted, as they contain the old version tiles. If tiles are already present, the new tiles won't be downloaded.

Thanks a million Dick!! Much appreciated. It is strange that it doesn't work as well for me, I am about to start building a new system for FSX & Prepar3D since I bought most parts needed, I just need to look for someone local to help me since I know zilch about computers, anyway, hopefully with the new system I will have an easier time with downloading tiles.
Bernardo.

go to youtube and search careyholzman he has great videos on building PCs. I built my first one by watching his videos.

Hi Dick:

Is there a way to re-enable download of the tile server dlls in this thread ? :scratchch

I'm getting a "problem loading page" in FireFox with www.filesplat.com on all the files I've attempted to download today.

Thanks for your help with this ! ;)

Good Morn Rhumba
Seem to be having the same issue as Bernardo...
Is there a link I can download this new DLL file for google?
Or... Is there any way to make tiles directly from google earth...

Thanks a mil
Flyboy

The tiles come from Google Maps, not Google Earth. Just updating the DLL doesn't do any good unless there is new imagery for your area... and usually there isn't. Check Google Maps for your area and see if it is different than what SBuilderX shows. If it is, I might consider making new DLLs.

Dick

Hi Flyboy.

I made a new DLL for:

GoogleServer_v172

I had the same problem you had, and I can now get zoom level 19 (but it looks fuzzy... Google's fault).
