• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

did Scan Attribute brake?

updated to the recent scenProc
scan attribute step seem to be broken; as its taking forever
i couldn't compete the scan step; anyone else experiencing this

I tried it but thought perhaps my shapefile was too big and that I just cancelled it prematurely. I didn't try again with a smaller shapefile, though, so perhaps it might be broken.

Let me see, I didn't try recently. I didn't make changes, but it could be broken.

Let me also check if the progress of scanning attributes is reported correctly, that should help to see if it is still working or not.

Or maybe I should add some event log message to indicate start and end of scanning.

I'll hold off on my update until I hear this is an ok. Speaking of, I usually get an update notice when I open scenPROC if there is a new version. Is that still working or that only applies to "released" versions as opposed to "development versions"?

As written on my blog you need to update manually once, the move to the new server broke the old update process.

Hi,

I just tried the scan attributes function and it's working fine.

I still have to check if the progress reporting is working, while the scanning is going on.

Hi,

There was a bug in the progress reporting of the scan attributes. I fixed that now, so the progress bar will show how far the scanning is with the next development release.

I also noticed that with a shapefile with many features (more than half a million) that the scanning took very long. That's partly due to the random value attribute I think, that has many different values. So for some files it might take very long. Maybe it would be better to exclude certain attributes from being scanned.

Thank you very much Arno :wizard:
i can report that scan attributes is now working great in latest build
and progress bar is reporting scan progress which should eliminate confusion with large files
