Dimmable night lighting problem

Hi all,
I don't suppose anyone has any insight into what might be causing this problem I'm having when trying to set up some dimmable lighting in our Hawk? I'm trying to use the method where an XML gauge is used to draw the night lighting onto the panel, with different transparencies to simulate the dimming.
It's almost working - the texture dimming can be controlled, but the night lighting is drawn very blurry.

The image at the top is the lighting when applied to the Self Illuminating channel directly.
Below that is how the texture appears when it is applied via the gauge. As I say, the dimming part works fine, it's just the blurring that is the issue.
As far as I can tell, the file sizes all match - 4096 textures are used across the board and the gauge is drawing them at 4096.

Anyone have any insight into what might be causing this issue?

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer!

Max panel texture size is 1024. Unlike normal textures.
