• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Disappearing Lines & Polys

I create a hold short line and a runway identifier tag (white on red). Looks good until I get a view approximately 90 degrees from the line or runway ID and then it disappears. They will reappear if I vary the view a few degrees.
It happens in all views except top-down. If I use virtual cockpit view and look down the line stays until I move the viewpoint up a little.
Any ideas?

Win 7 64bit. Also I am using Ultimate Terrain.

Great program by the way.

Alan, ground poly objects are displayed at the elevation of the Airport Reference Point. As Tom (who's now travelling) pointed out in another thread, what you are seeing suggest the elevation at the hold short point may be (or is being processed by FS9/X and/or your video card as if it were) slightly higher. Check your flatten to ensure it extends well beyond the gp object. (I have often noticed some "ripple" near the edges of flattens.)

Neither FS9 nor FSX have "native" ground poly capability. However, they will handle FS8-style polys - which is what ADE_GP generates. (You could create exactly the same thing with GMax, FS8 MakeMdl and a tweak - albeit with a lot more effort) We're fortunate that FS8-style ground polys still work - if not perfectly.

Since the hold-short line displays sometime, the ADE-compiled code is correct (or it wouldn't display at all.) The rest is up to Flightsim.

We have noticed that, sometimes, another poly near the ARP will correct such situations. We don't know why, but it does - sometimes.

And, while ADE_GP will draw hold-short lines, if this is your only use, you could also draw a "fake" hold short line using a short apron link terminated by a hold-short node.

Ok, thanks. I'll snoop around a little more and see what happens.:)

UPDATE: I'm trying to make the GP runway markings such as 13-31 to show up on the taxiway with white letters and red background.

I adjusted the airport flatten until it was 1 foot above the airport reference point and the markings still disappear and reappear. You can see them slightly above the taxiway. I then adjust the flatten to 1ft below and the markings stay hidden.

2nd UPDATE: I placed a short 5ft white line right next to the ARP so it fit in the main runway line so you can't hardly see it. This fix (as per the manual) works and now the markings don't disappear! Thank you, thank you, etc, etc.

Thanks,
Alan
