Shadow Underground
Hi, Dick and all
You are, of course, correct.
I placed my Uluru somewhere else, not too far from the proper site, just a metre above the ground and "Bingo", there was the shadow. I was all happy!
Therefore, indeed, AGL or MSL don't affect the shadow, the ground does.
Unfortunately, when I place my Uluru over the terrain hump, where it belongs, no matter how I adjust it (higher, lower) there is no shadow. I went up and down with the aircraft looking for a shadow in mid air, as I have seen in many objects among the Sim scenery downloads, and none was there either. I can get underneath it, too, where it was "dark" when I placed it elsewhere, and no darkness at all.
The terrain hump is doing something to that shadow. I had my Ulutu high enough above ground so that I could see a gap all the way around some 10 metres. I could clearly see the terrain hump in there, and no shadow...
Could it be that my Uluru is ever so slightly touching the terrain hump somewhere that I can't see and that makes the shadow disappear?
You seem to know how this shadow thing work, so perhaps you can give me some more ideas.
Thanks, Dick (and all)
Fern
