• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

First thanks for the feedback.

The link to the Wiki indeed is wrong on the front page. Most of the other things you mention we are already planning for a next update, including a better integration of the Wiki.

There is no archive section, as no posts are removed from the forums. They just stay there forever.

Hopefully I can change the front page soon, but I want to do it together with some other changes to the site (including some hosting changes), but I need to wait before that can go ahead. Once I am ready to start, I'll post more details about this :).

When we transformed SceneryDesign.org into FsDeveloper.com we thought it would be a good idea to make special entry points to the site for scenery designers, aircraft designers, mission designers, etc. So we made a portal for each category so that they could view the news most interesting to them there.
of the website, please let us know as well.

The concept is right, in fact I became pretty excited about it when I read the post on the FSX Beta groups. Unfortunately in reality it has been not properly implemented.

What I mean is, the purpose of a portal is to provide information and in particular tutorials. When I go to the portals I see no useful information except the "last threads" and for that you better go straight to the forum. From the marketing perspective this is a rope in the owner's neck because it is ignoring a potential source of extra traffic.

Sure, there is a lot of information on the forums but we must stop thinking as "programmers" (i.e. read the code). When the information is provided as tutorials it is more likely to be assimilated than a random piece of advise scattered all over the forum which may take quite some time to seep through even with the search function (that is not very effective in terms of time-usage).

For example in recent articles on an online FS magazine from New Zealand I found several pretty good tutorials that got me started right away with the least amount of questions.

It also does not help the community if people rather than either answering the question (or even better abstain from commenting) simply post things that not only do not yield anywhere and make the wrong assumption, that creates an environment of non-cooperation. We are here to share information rather than attack anybody that posts a question.

I have worked 18 years in the IT and believe you me, I think (sadly) it is one of the branches with the highest concentration of arrogant people. Luckily I did not turn out that way LOL.
