• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Doors disappear

Not sure what is happening. I've been trying to convert several of the PAD DHC aircraft to FSX from FS9 and I have encountered a rather random issue with doors.

In the original models, the doors are usually tagged as either front or rear canopy. If I tag the doors to the door_0, 1,2,3 they all show up and animate in MCX fine, but when loaded in the sim, doors seem to randomly disappear. Seems to be only the DeHaviland models from PAD (DHC2 Turbo beaver, DHC3 Turbo Otter and the DHC6 Twin Otters)

It seems random as sometimes it affects the whole model, (DHC2T) or just the VC model (DHC3T and DHC6) I've tried compiling the model several times and it still happens.

The tagged parts just vanish. not jump to the 0,0,0 coordinate like if you didn't tag a part with the proper animation. And it randomly affects the door numbers.

Any help would be appreciated. It also seems to affect the Eugene Heyart DeHaviland Otter models too.

I'm using the FSX SDK to compile but running the model in P3D V3.

What simulator are you running? Why aren't you using the P3D v3 SDK?

I am running the V3 SDK. I generate the models in the FSX format since 99% it works without issue. I think it boils down to if the model was made originally with G-Max or FSDS. The PAD models are predominantly FSDS models but the issue is pretty random if it crops up,

It also seems to have affected a few of my own old FS9 models

You may have found that 1% also. Where v3 Sdk is needed. There are small changes in v3 compared to FSX, especially when it comes to animations, name tags.

Tried with the V3 SDK... Still weird random door disappearances. Also my own old FS2004 models do weird stuff like look fine in MCX and animate properly then when I compile, The parts loose the animation and clump in the middle. Doors, wheels...virtually all the parts except for control surfaces. Must be something related to FSDS generated models. Since mine, Gene Heyart's and The PAD birds were all FSDS models.

Might be the version of FSDS. My older birds like the Volpar, PC-12, Noresman. etc all convert fine. But my last two (Gippisland Airvan and Stinson 108) were built with V3.5 and do weird stuff.
