• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Dynamic Scenery

Hey guys,

I think this has been asked, how does one go about making dynamic objects. An example would be a bus running from terminal to terminal or cars on a highway in the flight-path. Keep in mind that I am relatively new to g-max, and I know nothing about gmax animations or CAT. A tutorial would be nice, but right now any advice helps.

Hi m8,

Are you really living in San Fran ?
A great place ... i was in Sausalito and Napa Valley 10 years ago - sigh ...

Okay - i don´t know if there are better ways , but I myself use FSDYN! -> the !-Sign is in the name
it is freeware and very nice and easy - you need fltrec9.dll too which is freeware too.

You take a car or bus or ship or heli - must be an "aircraft"-Model in Fs9 - but there are many many at avsim or else ...

then you start at the point you want in FS9 and activate START REC in the alt-Menue in FS9 ( which of course is from FLTREC9 ! )

After your desired action you press END REC and ... BASTA ...
You compile it with FSDYN! - ( if you want one time or forever loop and else ... blabla )

thats it ! a BGL is created - put it in a directory and add it to the scenery in FS9 - TADAAA !

I actually live in Napa, and a quick question, does it then display the vehicle that i used in the recording?

David

Hi

What do you use to convert the MDL to a format FSdyn can use. I cant figure out how to attach the model to the Recorded path.

Can I use Fs2004 MDL's or do they have to be Fs2002 MDL's

Stevo

Okay, so I made the recording, but I have no idea what to do! :banghead: Do you have some more instructions?

David

hi

I tested it ONLY with FS2004 - you select an aircraft - or what else - in FS2004 and load the scenery where you want it.
Then you record the action that you want to do - for example drive a big circle with a ship on a lake or fly some circles with a plane over an airport.

OK - after that you have a XXX.dat in the FS9 directory.
Now you must start FSDYN! and choose this file -
then you are asked which Aircraft or boat you want to assign to - standard is CESSNA - then you are asked Step2 i think ... if it should be one time or circle or else ... in the last step your new BGL is created.

Strange when you fly with an aircraft and compile it with a boat hehehe , flying dutchman -effect , lol ( is it Arno ? ) grin ...

Hi,

I think the BGL that is created is from the Section 15 dynamic scenery. In that case it does not display the aircraft you used for the recording. That is just to record.

There are a few default objects that you can choose, for example the Cessna or a Learjet. If you want to use your own models, you will have to make a dynamic library. This can be done using the Fs2002 GMax gamepack and then a little source tweaking.

Hi

Is it possible to keep the source files from FSDYN? or is there a way to decompile the BGL it creates?

Arno and when you say tweaking, is it as easy as changing the GUID number for the model then recompile, or it there more to it, I'm not that good when it comes to tweaking, Thats why I use your tools ;) .

Stevo

Hi,

I am not sure, never used the tool. But you can make it with normal SCASM code, so maybe BGLAnalyzer is able to decompile such BGL files as well.

For the tweaking, I don't know all the details, because I haven't used that kind of dynamic scenery for ages. But on the AvSim forum there has been some discussion about it. Basically you need to make a library with FsRegen and then make a few changes to the ASM of the library itself, to make it a dynamic library instead of a normal object library.

Hi,

Is this program worth for FS9?, me every time that I give to start, he puts on the screen in black and does the FS9 fade, when I pull up the FS9 does he give me an error and does he tell me that the bookstore fltrec.dll is not compatible with FS9.

Thanks
