• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

Well post No. 1 has to have a problem attached  Sorry.

It's good to be here, & if this post needs moving to a more suitable location, I'm happy with that.

This all relates to FS2004 before I forget.

I have been flight simming for some time (years), but have only had a couple of goes at scenery in the past, and that mainly placing other folks efforts, the exception being the Helicopter Museum at Weston Super Mare a couple of years ago...but I digress.

I have just, (last week), started to get my head round the latest FSFS incarnation, and am attempting to make a representation on the Aviation Museum at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire (UK), home of the Mk VII Lancaster NX611 'Just Jane'.

I am at the moment just 'playing about', to hone a few techniques before I make the scenery for real. I need to visit them again to get some proper dimensions for their buildings instead of guessing, but any how, all HAS/HAD been going well as the following screen shots show. I even managed to make a night texture work for one building.

The story so far....

First scenery attempt - looking good but dimensions need tweaking.

Second piece of scenery - getting daring

Add a night texture - this I AM impressed with

Then things start to go wrong.

This is how the next 'test' piece looks in FSDS

Ooops

Ignore the red & white pole on the floor its my 'cross-hairs' placement 'aircraft'

As can be seen from the last two pictures, the first one shows the scenery in the FSDS preview window as I have designed it, and its has been a dog to do. I have done it at least four time to get there, but as you will see from the last picture something has gone wrong somewhere & the side attchments, the door surrounds, door awning & the checqer plate ramps have 'wandered' a bit.

I have a vague idea what is wrong & will try the fifth version tomorrow...yes I have already done this one four times.

As I am only using these to try out FSDS & learn new skills I'm not unduly worried but if anyone can offer a few tips I'm all ears.

Bob.

If you told FSDS that you are going to use a night texture make sure that you put a night texture for the object into the correct texture folder for your scenery.
