• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Editing Parking Spots

Can a parking spot be assigned to a specific Jet based on tail number so that it always returns to the same spot?

Try giving that specific aircraft a unique entry in the 'aircraft.cfg' file. Give that aircraft a previously unused parking code (say "ZYX") which you also apply to the required parking spot. Dependent upon other circumstances this should mean that the aircraft will go to that spot - not absolutely guaranteed but this will be as good as you can get.

So currently the AI I'm using (from MAIW) have a parking code of F100, which I also added to the parking spots where they need to park. . .If I change that code (a different one) for each airplane and edit the parking spot to the same code it should work?

I believe so - each individual aircraft will require its own entry in the 'aircraft.cfg' file for that type of aircraft. Don't forget - each "title=" entry has to be unique.
As always, it may be a good idea to create a backup copy of the existing 'aircraft.cfg' file so you can recover to your original situation if it doesn't work.
I would try giving them individual parking codes - F10A, F10B, F10C, etc.
In ADE, create parking spots (of the correct radius of course) and give each spot the unique code for each aircraft.
Try this for just a couple of the aircraft and see if it works.
Make sure that there are plenty of other parking spots of the same sizes for other aircraft which may be appearing at the airfield so that the AI system will push these into those spots rather than those you have specified for your aircraft.
Just because a parking spot has a code for a particular aircraft, AI can be placed on the spot if no other suitable spots are available.

Thanks, I do have plenty of other spots available. I used the last 4 of the serial number for each spot as a test and regardless of the time of day those spots are only occupied by the aircraft they're designated for, and all those aircraft fly periodically throughout the day to various destinations. So it appears it will work. Thanks again!!
