• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX effect getting offset.

Hi Guys and Gurus ;)

Now I'm back with an old problem but trying to explain it from an other angle. I have attached two pictures as an effect blinking from left to right.

It is working fine in one direction, but when I rotate the object the pictures (effect) are getting more or less offset. Is there a way to make the effect follow the object in all directions ? This is driving me crazy but I refuse to give up, so please can anyone help me.

Best regards:

Chico

Hi,

I don't see any pictures attached.

Where is the reference point of your object? Effects do have an offset the further you get from the reference point. But I would expect minimal problems if the reference point is in the center of your object.

Hi Arno,

I experienced the same thing trying to help out Floda (but me in FS9).
If you attach the effect (a wigwag light effect) to the object, it is not rotating together with the object and gets offset after restarting FS.
But if you do not attach it to the object and put the effect in seperately (by using ADE for instance), it behaves as it should.
I add an example effect to show you what I mean (just try to attach it to a scenery object and observe what happens if you change the view angle or rotate the object.
Fyi: changing the face= x,x,x, of the effect does not influence the outcome.
Weird.
The problem is solved as said by not attaching the effect to the wigwag scenery object but that is rather a cumbersome undertaking to get the placement correct.
