• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Effect Showing Up In Day

Hey Guys
Am new to FSDeveloper:). I just had a quick question....I have set up an apron light with fs_navwhi effect

And this is how I have it setup in Gmax. 3 objects 1 is blue, second is effect attached with DAY=0; NIGHT=1, Third is the same except for Dusk and Dawn setting. But during the day as I get farther away from light, the effect shows up

and As I get closer The effect disapears.

The SDKs are a strange creature to deal with, as there are many "quirks".

When I set up my effects I listed each parameter by itself, rather then combining them. So I had three entries to make, DUSK, DAWN and NIGHT. I had no DAY entry to mess with. Don't know if that may help, but it sure wouldn't hurt to try it and see if it clears things up for you.

IIRC correctly -
The fields highlighted in red identify potential errors.

Do they similarly all disappear
when the blue effects row is viewed perpendicularly.

If so -
Try setting Y Scale to 1.00,
as that may be inhibiting visibility from that perspective.

I tried both methods and none seem to work basically the light does not appear in the day but as soon as my aircraft starts going further and further away, the effect appears....nothing wrong with the model but something is up with the effect file....
 
Maybe you could attach the effect file to a posting? I have the one I did, but it's been a few months back and I have short memories when dealing with parts of the SDKs. :o
 
Its basically the same as fx_navwhi but changed the color to blue for the edge and green for the center I'm attaching the green
