• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Effects exclude??

Hi!

I have the following problem: We are working on a scenery. I add my effects with gmax attach tool. If I add this to the scenery which we are working on it does not show up. When I add the same object at an other scenery it shows up. No Idea why. Maybe something is excluding the effects? Did you experience something like this?

Hi tsgucci.

This is exactly what happens in FS9 scenery. An exclude will also exclude effects within the same BGL or folder. It's not supposed to happen that way, but it is a bug in FS9.

The fix is to make several excludes very tiny in size... taking out only the refpoints of the default scenery. This increases the chances that the refpoints of your effects will not be covered by those excludes.

You can determine the defaults refpoints by decompiling their bgls.

Or another work around is to place the effects with XML code and BGLComp, instead of attaching it to the MDL file in GMax.

Hello!

Thanks for help! I was invastigating this issue.

We found out that if you make the exclude e.g. with AFX you are able to set what he should exclude. We did not allow him to exclude the effects. Voila! It works.

I think it is much easier to place the effects with gmax, at least for me.
