• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Engine pylon help

Hello everyone,
As some of you know I am making a A350 for FS9.
There are lots of problems I am encountering software wise.
But now I have a problem with my own skills :P
I am trying to recreate the engine pylon you see in the image but as you can see in the blender image it isn't going so well XD .
So I am asking do some of you have some tips and tricks on how to do this properly?

First thing is you need good practice for making complex aircraft and i recommend always finding easy projects. This aircraft has some tough parts to model.
I made you a tutorial that is one method for making these kinds of parts. For making a fuselage i use another method where you create all the cross section and then unite them with a click of a button. And i always build one side of the fuselage the mirror and weld when finished. Any part that is symmetrical.

I only had a side shot of the blue print so i do not have the thickness correct but this tutorial will give you an idea on how to make this part. It's best to make a boxy part that hits all the points then work on making more cross sections and smooth corners. There is a tutorial for using NURMS which also takes a low poly to a high poly. This only works good for some parts. So this is not a spot on part but will show you what you can do to get this part done. I also did not make the very bottom part which you can do later once this part is how you want it.

Also always work with Poly not Mesh. You can always convert to Mesh once finished. But the truth is you never need Mesh since Poly is a Mesh without the face count. Editable Poly shows its face count as half of what it really is and makes it easier to shape. Editable Mesh shows the actual face count and makes it hard to shape.

Ok i tried a lot that you suggested but sadly blender has a lot of different tools so a lot of your suggestions don't work with blender :\
 
I'd suggest getting more photos of that pylon (big photos!) and not trying to build it as a single object for now. Use several objects to make the overall shape and when you're happy with the result you could consider combining to a single object, or not.
