I am in the Air National Guard and we have lost our cockpit simulator due to budget cuts and I have no way to train new maintainers on how to run aircraft for maintenance runs. Basically I'm looking for an F-16 cockpit with engine related instruments so I can simulate normal engine run parameters and so the trainee can practice emergency procedures.
I was looking to create a software application that would run on a flight sim software (like Microsoft Flight Sim) to simulate the cockpit of an F-16.
I know there are hundreds of F-16's available for various flight sims but I was looking for a cockpit that I could load scenarios that would simulate different emergency conditions for the trainees to detect and respond to. My idea would be for the trainee to sit down at a PC, start the program and load a training "mission" that would let them perform a few normal engine starts then begin to introduce some emergency procedures at them, ie: lose of oil pressure, generator failure, engine over temp, hydraulic pump failure, etc. I'm not looking to recreate the cockpit (we have real one's to play with), I'm just looking for a way to introduce the system failures to them so they can practice the procedures required.
I thought with starting with a flight sim program, with it's ability to create and manipulate aircraft gauges, would be a good place to start.
I'm currently using MS Flight Simulator X, SP2 but I have bought (and still have most) every version since 2.0 (that was amazing at the time, 4 color graphics and all!).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
