• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

engines not showing running

Hi ,
I have been creating my flight facility and have learned how to place static aircraft with ADE9X and SAMM. I created a helicopter with running engines but it will be "blades stopped" ( same with a plane ) or the prop textures show but not rotate. I read the manual and did what it said to do but something is still wrong. I want the helicopter to be static with the props turning and nav lights on but can't get it to work and thought to go the AI route but it is really confusing so If someone could help me get the props running for the static helicopter that would be geat as well as the nav lights.

it may be easier to corespond by email "tnyland@nycap.rr.com"

Thank you,
Tim

Tim, depending on what model you are using, the prop turning may not be controlled directly by the engines running "key". Especially if it's a flyable model, the baldes rotating may, instead, be controlled by a cockpit lever - in which case you'll have to investigate what parameter controls the prop and set it separately. If it is a flyable model, do the blades turn simply because the engine is running?

SAMM doesn't cause the display of the prop-turning texture directly. Instead, SAMM sets the engine RPM variable which, in airplanes, FS uses as a trigger to select the appropriate texture.

If it's an AI helicopter or a flyable model where the blades turn directly in response to the engine running, please send me the model (or a link where I can get it) and I'll investigate whether the mechanism for prop-turning is different in helicopters.

engines not running

Hi Don,
I am using a flyable Blackhawk. Were do I make these changes and how to create the Helicopter and place it? could you email me as it may be alittle bit involved.
Thank you

Tim

It will be very involved. Unless you want to educate yourself on aircraft model design, I suggest you find another Blackhawk, preferably an AI version - or settle for the blades being static.

Please read the last paragraph of the UNSUPPORTED OPCODES AND OTHER ISSUES section of the User Manual.

SAMM gives you the tools to diagnose and solve the problem, but there's a very steep learning curve involved. At this point, there is no evidence that there is any problem with SAMM. If you continue with this model and you discover something that SAMM is doing wrong, or not doing but should be, please let me know. Beyond that, I'm afraid you're on you own unless some other kind-hearted soul volunteers to work with you.

Half there on engines not running

I have set the paramiters section according to the manual but still cannot get the props to rotate...Guess I am not sure of the wording they use or maybe I am putting the information in the wrong spot. If anyone has knowledge of how to get the prop to show turning then maybe I am only a simple step away from getting it to work.

Thank you,
Tim

guess the props aren,t supposed tyo turn but "look like" they are turning so it's a bust. Ai programs are written for people who know how to do stuff already but someone needs to do a step by step manual for us who are new and want to do scenery design.

Tim, out of curiosity, I downloaded Jordan Moor's Blackhawk (the aircraft you told me via a PM you are using) and converted it into a static model with SAMM. It displays correctly with and without the engines running i.e., with engines running, the whirling rotor texture is shown. With engines off, the static rotor blades are drawn.

What is it that you wanted to do but couldn't?

Don

blackhawk.

Hi Don, Want to actually see the blades moving but I guess that would be done as an AI . I thought I figured out that it would give it the "EFFECT" of the blades moving by having them look "BLURRED".

Thanks ,
Tim
