• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 EP0D Bircza

I seem to have found an "anomaly" that I can't find reference to ... specifically the default Polish airfield EP0D Bircza (that's ECHO PAPA ZERO DELTA) is in a whopping great hole!
It appears the default airfield elevation was set to ~425ft rather than metres (about 1400ft)
I know how to create a flatten so's it all "looks" OK and I can land on it, but if I try to take off from there my aircraft starts in the hole!
I vaguely remember having had to deal with something similar in the past, which involved editing the default flatten file, (in this case FL954140.bgl), but I can't remember the details.
If someone could remind me how to go about it that might save me a lot of head-scratching ;)

I don't have a default EP0D or an airfield named Bircza. There is an EP0A, EP0B and EP0C but not an EP0D. I suspect that you have an addon. I would look through my addon scenery/scenery folder and see if I could locate it there before messing with any default bgl file which I don't recommend you do at anytime.

No ... EP0D is definitely there in the default AP954140.bgl file ... I just removed it to see if it made any difference ;)
Sounds like you may have Eastern Europe disabled in your Scenery Library?

I certainly would like to resolve the issue without having to modify default files ... it's not a problem for me, but if I'm going to include my "new" rendition of the airfield (now called EPAR Arlamów) in an upload it'd be nice to have an easily shared resolution of the problem.

Any further thoughts very welcome :)

You are correct. I had Eastern Europe turned off. Yes I now have the airport and the hole. In addition to making a new flatten at the correct altitude you need to open the default airport in ADE and change the airport altitude under Tools/Change airport reference data. The airport altitude has to be the same as the flatten altitude. Then compile and place the output bgls in the correct folders.

Yes, I'd done all that, 'cept I'm using SceneGenX rather than ADE.
Everything "looks" good, can even land there, but from the start-up screen, if I "Create a Flight" to EP0D, I end up in the hole with my new scenery suspended in the air above me.
If there's no obvious solution it's probably no big deal ... I can hack the default files for my own purposes and simply leave the airfield out of any relevant upload ... if no-one else has noticed the problem in the last 20 years it's unlikely to be missed ;)

I checked the situation and found that Lviv_Flatten_LWM2.bgl from my UKLL scenery had this wrong flatten too.
I used SBuilder9 to delete this flatten and replaced Lviv_Flatten_LWM2.bgl by UKLL_LWM2.bgl.

UPDATE :-
I've remembered how to edit the default flatten files, so, for my own purposes, I've deleted the default EP0D and replaced it in it's entirety with a basic interpretation of EPAR Arlamów at the "correct" elevation.
I'll be working on options for a release version, if it gets that far.
