• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Error Exporting Model with Blender2MSFS

I'm following this video and everything seems to work okay until I export and get an error. The error is: 'Object' object has no attribute 'proxy'.

I'm not sure if this is still the way to expert in the current version of Blender. Most topics seem to have died off about a year ago.

I have the Asobo Import/Export plugin also installed, but I haven't figured out how to export with that yet.

Thank you! Should I downgrade Blender or is there another method I should use?

* edit *
I just did a downgrade and was able to export. Now I'm sure something else will go wrong. :)

Also do not have both the Asobo exporter and the Microsoft gLtf exporter selected in addons -they don't 'like' each other

I was wondering about that. The Asobo one seems more aimed at airplanes and I couldn't figure out how to export with that.

Both are on in extensions now but the first time I had messed around with the Asobo one on the project. When I went back from scratch I hadn't touched it.

I've been using complex software for over 40 years and the Blender UI has to be one of the worst I've encountered. Which tends to be the case in free/open source projects. I lost the property view yesterday and for the life of me I couldn't get it back.

I'll get better with time :)

I can completely 'commiserate' with you regarding Blender. I now feel 'comfortable' using it but for a long time I thought that I must be dumb as I could not work it out and even though I have a logical mind (I used to be a programmer and an analyst) I really stumbled for some time with Blender (maybe 3D modellers would not). Lately though I had trouble setting up animation correctly to work in MSFS until mamu (you will see responses to questions around here) sorted me out. There are many people using this forum and other forums who will offer assistance although sometimes you might wait a few days before a response.

At first I preferred using the MSFS 'toolbox' for exporting models for MSFS but now only use the Asobo exporter and I only create NON aircraft models.l. There are heaps of video tutorials on YouTube which I find mostly very helpful (search for Blender MSFS2020 or just MS2020). I find tutorials by Federico Pinotti and Flying Theston particularly good for using Blender for MSFS2020 . Both of these chaps mainly do NOT assume the audience knows every mouse click and and so do not 'gloss over' anything (I hate video tutorials with no narrative and those which assume what the audience knows or doesn't know some things the ones where you have to try and slow down the speed of the video to take note of something they have done and not explained).

Lastly ASAIK the older MSFS 'toolbox' for exporting is only usable in Blender 2.92 whereas Blender 3.1 should be used with the Asobo exporter (refer mamu's response above). And once again do NOT have both exporters 'checked' in addons.

Looking back at mamu's response (Blender 3.1.2) I wonder if I need to upgrade from 3.1 to 3.1.2 as I can't find a safe site to download from and note that 3.1.2 contains a few fixes which might not affect me.
