• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Error Question

Good Afternoon Everyone and Happy New Year!

I've been struggling my way through using TDB to create new flightplans for FSX. I've figured out everything thing I'm supposed to do with the exception of this error;

unable to open aircraft instance data in flightplans.....

Can someone point me to what this error means and what I need to do correct it? Any help is appreciated.

Making AI plans from the TDB is a good mental exercise, but in my opinion, not practical. Two limitations are; airports must be at least 10 miles apart, and there must be two extra parking places for each type of plane in your plan. Much easier to use something like AIFP. No such limitations. Not that I want to do everything the easy way, but there is a steep learning curve for all things FS, anyway.
All to say I don't know about your error.

I really don't mind the mental exercise in figuring this out. I just wish there were some sort of error code list, that one could use to figure out where the error and what causes it. On another note regarding AIFP; I take it you can use it to augment the default traffic in FSX?

In FS9, I augmented the default traffic with real world airlines for the major airports of the world, but in some of the out of the way airports the default airlines sufficed to provide me with some traffic.

Yes, AIFP will augment the default traffic file. It will also make FS9 files compatible with FSX.

May folks bypass the default traffic and use something like WOAI traffic.

My choice has been to download realworld repaints for default planes.
