• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Exclude City Buildings

City buildings (default) are proving to be stubborn items to remove. I've used both FSX-KML and ADE vers. 1.26, creating exclude areas and adding a variety of tags, including "Exclude___Everything", "Exclude Airport_Backgrounds_ExcludeAutoGen" and "Airport_Backgrounds_ExcludeAutoGen", without success. Creating flatten files does work using the same programs. The unwanted items are those buildings added in FSX as city skyline objects, not normal autogen. Any ideas are welcome.

Thank you for the info, looks like I'll have to go the xml route. Upon checking the FSX SDK it seems clear as mud to me - looks like a GUID line needs adding to an xml code, but cannot find any GUID for City-specific objects, nor what to do with the xml file once it's been edited. Once again, thanks for any info.

City buildings could be autogen so a tag that excludes autogen would work. More likely thay are either generic buildings or library objects. In both cases you need an exclusion rectangle created via Xml and Bglcomp to deal with them. Somethings like ExcBuilder would do the trick. ADE won't unless the buildings are on an airport.

I was having exactly the same difficulty removing two buildings - but from within my airport boundary.

ADE 1.30 did not show all of them in the default view, but listing scenery objects ... bingo.

I can't believe how many exclusion rectangles/polygons I made for this.

BTW - Great program Jon.

Do you have the scenery complexity value set to Extremely Dense in the drop down box on the main menu? If not then some objects may not display ADE matches the way that FSX works when displaying objects so if you set the value in ADE to say Normal then only objects with an image complexxity of Normal or less will show.

Glad you like the program :)

Thanks to all for your help, turns out ExcludeBuilder-FSX did the trick. ADE is sure coming in handy for a lot of other scenery items, many thanks for making that program available.
