• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I wonder how to run en external program ( airplane configurator )
from inside the wasm sandbox
I know is a tricky work to make inside a sandbox, however any clues ?
Thanks in advance
Mario

You can't. The sandbox isolates you from the system. You have no access to anything to do with the system, only what the sandbox provides via it's API.

I agree with every words of WarpD.
And current MSFS wasm gauge API doesn't give you opportunity to start external process and communicate with existing process in any way, except maybe SimConnect through MSFS as server.
My clue for configuration is via files that reside in directories where wasm module have read and write access. Your external program can read and write that configurations if it's in Community folder before and after you run your airplane.
I hardly can imagine what configurations for airplanes can be used except fuel, payload, model visual or aerodynamic variant, livery and registration number that all can be made using commonly UI. If you need to change some rare made configurations as flight director icon on PFD or colors of some GUI elements of MFD with nifty GUI and forms, try to make digital flight bag display as tablet in cockpit or fake page for multifunction display as wasm gauge and change configuration files using available capabilities.

Hello,
thanks for answer, i have already written a configurator as a MSFS SimConnect client that runs as an external program, i wonder to run it using a wasm module, waiting for MSFS add-on menu that is no available yet.
A configurator can be used to shows/load differents payloads (ie: tanks, weapons, flare dispensers,etc..) based on stations weight, for instance, this can't be done easily using the UI.

Well, at this point in time... they're not going to allow you to load an external application. I don't know if they'll ever allow any form of external app/internal UI support.
