• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Export error using ModelConverterX

Good morning,

I'm trying to export a Sketchup model I've created. The import to MCX is ok, I had just to resize some of the texture which were not power of 2. When I try to export the DAE model and texrtures to FSX I get a compiling error (see attached copy the error log). It seems there's a problem with a version of DIRECTX it can't find. I checked the build concerned on the Microsoft website and it looks it can't be used with Windows 10 Pro unless I'm mistaken. Can anyone help to solve this problem?

Thx in advance

Claude

Hello Claude...

Are there any symbol characters within the name of the model or directory name? Such as " ( ) , ' &". It does appear that there is an apostrophe within the name of the model. Try removing it.

Could it be the presence of space between the last character and the number : "Terminal 1"? I'll check without the space...
Thx for the info Doug

Claude

EDIT: Just made the correction and suppressed the space but still get the same error messages:banghead:

Hi,

The problem is some DirectX files that xtomdl needs are missing. So you need to install directx 9.0c. There is a version that installs on windows 10 as well.

Thx Arno, I thouhgt Directx was installed by default on WIN10. As usual MS installs gadgets before essentials!....
Let's hope this will solve my problem.
By the way, is there a way to update the DAE file after one has resized the textures which were not powers of 2.. I saved the textures resized in MCX but when I reload my object I have to do the correction again; probably I've missed something there as I'm a newbie with MCX.

Claude

EDIT: Arno I've just tried to install Directx9, I get this message:

I've checked my version with DXdiag and I have Directx 12 installed. I have a dual boot with WIN 7 Ultimate installed as some of my software are not WIN10 compatible. What should I do????

Hi Claude,

XtoMDL really needs the files from DirectX 9.0c, so that you have a newer version installed doesn't matter. This installer should work for Windows 10 (it's the DirectX SDK):

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=19743

If you change textures in MCX, that typically does not update them in the folder where SketchUp saved them. So that's why on importing the DAE file you get them from the original location again.

Ok I thought I had to download it from MS. I'll check that tomorrow; time to go to bed! Midnight past here!!Thx.

Good Morning Arno,
Thx for your help; it works great now but for a few textures to reposition due to the change in their sizes and one missing.
Have a good day
Best
