Sketchup measures object complexity in # of faces. MCX uses # of triangles. Usually I will only start having problems exporting from MCX if the SU face count of the object is around 20,000. I've assumed, incorrectly, that MCX triangle count would normally be about twice the SU face count, since a face consists of two triangles. Anyway, here are the face/triangle counts of a few objects.
Object____________SU Faces_____MCX Triangles____Ratio
Blimp_____________19,137_______45,130__________1:2
Tug Alaksan_______12,012_______62,448__________1:5
Tug Steam_________60,968_______231,130_________1:4
The Blimp I've had no trouble exporting from MCX. Tug Alaskan was a fail. Tug Steam I didn't even try. Why the discrepancies in the ratios of triangles in MCX to faces in SU. Shouldn't this be more or less constant? Also, it looks like the MCX triangle count is the more meaningful indicator of object complexity.
Can someone please help enlighten the stoopid person?
