• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 failed to compile mdl

A friend of mine uses FSDS 3 and uses FS9 only.

Recently He had to reformat his hard drive.

In FSDS 3 he tried to compile a project. -> failed to make mdl or failed to create mdl message.

I suspect there might be one or more .net frameworks he has forgotten to install.

I asked about these, sent a snapshot of my control panel showing what I have, and asked if he reinstalled his FS2004 SDK, Have yet to hear back, but will I am sure.

He says he has things pointing to the makemdl in preferences.

I suspect a .net framework 2 or such is still missing. Any other ideas? Bob

Hi Bob,

I don't think the FS2004 gamepack requires .NET, I thought that was for FSX only.

One problem that often causes trouble is the decimal character, it must be the dot. For US users that is the default already, but in many countries it is not.

It might also be worthwhile to check if MakeMDL is still making a log file with errors when it fails to export.

Arno- Thanks. This guy is in Michigan, USA but who knows what happened when her reformatted his hard drive. I'll pass this on.

well i have export problems as i can use bglc but it only create an bgl but whit the make mdl i get this log file:
