• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Finally aerial imagery

tiles2bing.exe <myFolder> /o PackageSources\CGL\aerial_images /y google

myFolder directory contains the google tiles.

tiles2bing.exe <myFolder> /o PackageSources\CGL\aerial_images /y google

myFolder directory contains the google tiles.

Looks like /y google is still the right command for Bing images as well (I've done this previously with Google aerial images) - I think that's because I georeferenced a stitched file into QGIS and exported it from there as tiles which is what /y google seems to work well with. Thanks for confirming - that worked fine.

Looks like Tiles2Bing is no longer available via the link provided. Does someone have a copy they could share, or has this method of CGL creation been superseded?

Personally I use GlobalMapper. It's an expensive buy in but such a simple process.

Load your raster into GM, set to Mercator WGS84, export to map tiles, choose the LOD (only need 1 level) and drop the generated folder into your aerial scenery project folder and compile.

You can get a time limited demo of Global Mapper which is useful if you only want to do up one area or a few within the time limited trial.

As for color matching, Photoshop, open up your reference Bing Maps image and your new imagery, then apply color from the Bing Imagery.

There's time limited demo's for photoshop as well.

Saves a ton of time and energy.
