• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fix for bright green trees P3Dv5?

Hello, I've use P3Dv5 often but one thing I absolutely hate about it is the bright, lime green trees all over the place in temperate zones like much of the U.S. for example. The trees look so terrible and unnatural it ruins VFR flying for me and I like to do a lot of VFR flying. Turning off Dynamic Vegetation does get rid of the bright green color but the 2D trees look even worse in my opinion. They look like barren telephone poles with almost no leaves or branches on them. In fact, the trees I have installed for FSX (Trees HD + Natural Tree Environment X) look way better than the 2D and 3D P3Dv5 trees. I tried using Orbx Trees HD and Terra Flora V2 but it makes no difference. In fact, I don't believe I see any difference at all with these replacement Orbx tree add-ons.

I've asked for help on other forums and had no luck. I've scoured the internet looking all over for a solution and found nothing. That's why I've decided to ask here, among flight simulation developers (I am not one), if there is a fix for it, developers would know. Is there any way to fix the trees? Perhaps there would even be a developer willing to create a fix? I would pay very good money for anyone able to create a solution for this problem. I honestly would give my right arm for some good looking trees.

Thanks

I just found a solution that helps make it noticeably better, though it only works with 3D Dynamic Vegetation turned off. I found out with a suggestion from an online flight simming friend. He gave me a link to a thread that's a couple years old about missing textures in TerraFlora V2. The advice was to go to Orbx Central and verify the files for the add-on and it worked, I also did the same thing for Trees HD, both times it downloaded new files. So I tested both add-ons separately and both together (Dynamic Vegetation off),. I noticed a significant difference in the 2D trees and no lime green in sight. Having Dynamic Vegetation enabled still causes bright green trees with the add-ons enabled. Each tree add-on looked better but different, having both enabled together looks better too but I personally prefered just having TerraFlora V2 enabled, it looked most natural of all the options to me. Even though the trees are better now than before, they still look just acceptable or ok, nothing spectacular.

Now I know why I didn't see a difference with those add-ons before, because they where both missing textures, even though I downloaded and reinstalled them well after the forum post about it a couple years ago and I still had to verify files to get them working.

I still wish I could use 3D Dynamic Vegetation trees and foliage because if it wasn't for the bright green and someone would create a way to fix they bright lime green dynamic trees to a more natural color or maybe even improve on the look or realism of dynamic trees if possible. I would still give my right arm for that :)

If you have Discord, I highly recommend Adam Pestridge's "DrP3D" channel. I recently saw him recommend a shader/config editing package that really made my sim look a lot better, including the trees. Look for a ZIP file named "P3DV5 Enhancedv5 v2"

Fantastic, I will do that, thank you for that information, I really appreciate it. I'll give anything a try.
