• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fixing an ATC command

THANKS for the FREE version of ADE!

I need help fixing an ATC command that say, maintain zero until established. It should say maintain 2000.

I tried editing using approach mode and compiling, but I can't get it to work.

Please keep in mind that I'm a beginner.

Thank you so much for your help.

This problem occurs when the FAF has reset to zero for different type approaches.

Click on the Approach Mode
Click on List /Approaches
Select the Approach (such as a ILS) and click on Edit

In the following picture you will see a Zero in the Appr Alt Ft

Change the zero to 2000 ft or whatever the approach chart shows like I have done in the following picture.

Select List /Approaches and edit the next ILS or any approach that shows a zero. When finished save your airport as a .ad2 file and compile. The .ad2 file is now your master airport and always open it if you have to make more changes.

hope this helps

Jim,

Thank you so much. I was going crazy trying to figure this out.

One last question.

When the airport is compiled, does it save the approach information in the BGL?

I normally open the BGL from the downloads folder, then make the changes, then I compile it to the same original BGL in the downloads folder. Then I copy it to the Scenery folder in FSX.

Is this ok to do?

I tried changing the altitude info and recompiling and I still hear descend and maintain ZERO.

Hi,

Load your airport from the ad2 file, make the changes you want, save and compile. Make sure the folder where you saved your bgl in, is activated in the scenery list of FS.
PS: do not load your airport from the bgl as I am not sure whether the approach info is stored in the airport bgl or in the cvx bgl (Jim will tell you). In any case, it has always and everywhere been strongly advised to load your airport from the ad2 workfile. If you configured your ADE to also save an xml file, you can probably check the approach info as well and make the changes in there and recompile starting from the xml.

Yes, If you started from a stock airport meaning, you used ADE to open a stock airport and then saved it as a .ad2 file. From that point forward you always open the .ad2 project file and compile to the bgl.

If you open someone elses airport by way of their bgl then the approach coding may not be in the bgl you started with.

Thanks. I managed to fix the file that would not save using the XML method. Brilliant!
