• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Flaps And Gear Linked

Hello all!

A new aircraft I'm working on sets the flaps to full as soon as the gear is lowered. How can I get it to stop doing that? It's not a gauge, is there something in the air file?

If it's not a gauge, then it's in the compiled model...

If you don't have the source file for the model, then you're SOL... ;)

No, this is an aircraft I'm building. When I press the key to extend the gear, the flaps go as well. I'm building the model myself, and the gauges as well, so I know they can't be the issue.

I assume something in the .air file I've based the new aircraft on has something weird in it. Has no one heard of this before?

If this is for FS9, then check the names given to the flap objects. If FSX, you may have to undo then redo the animation tags for the flaps so they don't conflict with the landing gear.

No, it's not the model. The parts are rights, but when I extend the gear, the flaps go too. Not just in the model, I can see the variables for the flaps changing. When I first load the aircraft, the flaps are set to full (any other the flaps are up when they load) so I know there's something weird.

It might help if we knew what air file you have based the aircraft on and what version of FS you are using. Having said that there is nothing in the air file that initiates changes in control surface positions.

The only reason I can think of that would cause flaps to be down when you start FS is the table of flap positions in the config file. Could be a typo also.

FS will not let you assign the same key to different functions so your problem can not be there.

If I wanted to lower flaps at the same time as lowering gear I'd have to write gauge code to do that, so the problem could be in some gauge code you have.
