• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Flightplan error?

I've created a couple of flightplans from EGLL to KJFK and Fly Tampas' Kai Tak airport for a concorde (concorde with 5 liveries from fsdownload) that i converted for AI using aifp but the plane never arrives unless i set the time to after it is supposed to land. It doesn't matter how long the AI engine has to sort itself out, nothing happens and I get the reverse problem when it's supposed to depart, it just sits on the stand until FSX deletes it.

i've made a plan for it before which worked but now that i've got two planes instead of one, (Concorde-air france and BA)it refuses to work at all.

I've attached the plans so you can have a look and see where i've gone wrong and any help would be much appreciated

I find that when doing something new, I keep it simple. Try a 2 leg plan first to make sure things work. If they do not, then it is easier to find problems.

The third leg of you first plan has an "Override ETA" entry. I see the 4th leg does not. I get an entry there sometimes when I'm experimenting with departure and arrival times. It can kill the whole plan if it is not needed(I don't think yours is). Delete it and see what happens.

Other than the issue highlighted by bobbyjack (caused by a problem with local time - fixed in 1.6.04), the flight plans appear to be OK. To fix that issue, just accept the system-calculated time.

You note that the flight plan worked when you were using only one aircraft but now not with two. That suggests an aircraft.cfg problem. As well, the failure to depart suggests a failure by the AI engine to find a continuous taxiway path from parking to the active runway - which may be differnet from the last time you successfully ran this flight plan. Traffic Toolbox Explorer (if you don't know what that is, please see the new Section 10 of the user manual) should tell you what's happening.

You haven't indicated what version of AI Flight Planner you are using. Please update to version 1.6.04 and try again. If that doesn't help, please post the aircraft.cfg file and I'll take another look. As well, it would be helpful if you would highlight a specific arrival and/or departure that doesn't work

gadgets, ive been using the latest version prior to the update. I don't know if it ever worked at jfk as i only checked kai tak. The only thing i changed was making a gate named SST at vhhx and i updated the cfg using ADE. The cfg is in the FDE forum under "how would i". If you cant find it, let me know and i'll repost it here.

I replaced your Concordes in the Aircraft List with two 737's (after modifying their cruise speed in both the Aircraft List and aircraft.cfg file to 1346 kts) and compiled the flight plan. The 737 landed at VHHX on schedule (actually 3 minutes late) and disappeared immediately which indicated a lack of parking.

I discovered that there is no parking at the stock Kai Tak, reinforcing my suspicion that your departure issue is related to parking.

So, please:

1. upgrade to Version 1.6.04 and delete the "+1" after the ETA in the third leg of the first flight plan (the other legs are OK), and
2. check the afcad to ensure there is adequate parking at VHXX(presumably, you're not using the unmodified stock VHHX since, if you were, the AI would never have materialized for departure) and that the parking is properly connected to the taxiway and runway system.

If things still don't work as expected, I suggest you change to another aircraft which you know is well behaved.

Bottom line, there's nothing wrong with the flight plan (other than the "+1" on the one ETA which isn't contributing to this problem and which, once removed, won't recur).

Problem Solved!

Sek Kong had no parking and the Local Time Offset for Hong Kong needs to be 7 instead of 8, which is what AIFP has it down as.

I was busy preparing a response to your initial (unedited) post, so didn't notice your edit.

The real GMT offset for Hong Kong is +8 hours - as is set in AIFP. (You'll have to ask Microsoft why FSX uses +7. While I haven't gone to the trouble of exploring how extensive is the problem in FSX, in FS9, Beijing also uses +7 rather than +8, so it may affect a large part of Asia) Fortunately, AIFP allows you to change the GMT offset for any city/region/country (Airports/Change Local Time Offset). Wouldn't it be nice if FSX allowed you to do that?

I'm not going to change the offset in AIFP because, in the (albeit unlikely) event MS fixes FSX, AIFP would then be in error relative to both FSX and the real-world. Also, doing so would create difficulties for those who use FS Real Time and other such add-ons. I will, however, make a note in the AIFP user manual

Thanks for highlighting this issue.
