• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

For the Group's consideration

First off let me state that I am a beginner in FS development and have so many questions that I need answered

I was wondering that because most of the leadership in the developers community have or are migrating to FX is it time for a separate forum for FS9 and earlier.

It is getting harder to find FS9 information in the growing forest of FX information.

As much as I love the look of FX my computer just cannot run it as smoothly as it does FS9 so I have decided to stay with FS9 until I upgrade my hardware.

I am sure that I am not alone in this decision and there are enough FS9 users out there that feel the same way.

Am I alone or not? What do you think?

Hi Dale,

I don't think the differences are so big as you say now. For some parts FSX is really different, like the terrain SDK for example, but for these we already made a special subforum.

For other parts like GMax there are mainly minor differences, so in that case having two forums would make it more difficult to find information in my opinion.

If there are suggestions for other areas where splitting would be useful, please let us know.

Having said this, I am thinking about some changes to make it more clear for which version a question is.

The key thing will be for the poster of the question to state that the question is for FS9, FS-X, etc. Sometimes one gets the version from within the context of the post, but stating up front the flightsim version and modelling program(s) being used helps focus the right answer.

Agreed Felix. I am thinking about adding a sort of combo box with the version when you create a new thread. And then it should be added in front of the subject automatically.

Well it looks from the amount of activity that this thread that I am alone.

Arno, I really like your idea of a check box. It could really speed up a search for specific information.
