• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.

FS9 Default Mesh

Hello,

I have created a few scenery projects using the default FS9 mesh, mostly because there are so many mesh addons out that that I didnt want to have to support all the addons so I just used the "clean slate" approach. I am wondering if there is any way though to make the FS9 default mesh the true default for the scenery areas I have created. Meaning, if someone adds another mesh package that the FS9 default would get priority in my small area only. Is this possible?

Best,
Keith

Hi Keith,

No, that does not work. FS always selects the mesh with the highest resolution it can find for a certain area. But depending on the type of scenery you made, using a different mesh should not give very big problems in general (as the scenery should adapt to the new altitude).

Thanks for the quick reply. So the only way around that would be to build a small area of hi-res mesh around the airfields I guess? Maybe 6 miles or so square?

Yes, if you really have trouble with different meshes (which is not always the case), then providing your own high resolution mesh is probably the best solution to make sure the user see what you intended them to see.
