• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS9 Revisited

Having loaded MSFS for flying only and having so many varied issues with FSX and FSX Steam i thought i would retry FS9 on my new conquering PC.
Pretty much since i got my new PC I have had issues with my AI aircraft and wondered could it be WINDOWS 11 that is causing it.
A couple of things are one, my aircraft.cfg file is doubling up its wording such as from
[General]
atc_type=Cessna
atc_model=C170
editable=1
performance=HTAI Aircraft
to
[General]
atc_type=Cessna
atc_model=C170
editable=1
performance=HTAI Aircraft /HTAI Aircraft/HTAI Aircraft
and so on without me touching it.
The effect whatever is going on is that usually the aircraft either dances all over the show or they taxi as normal, line up,roll and then brake at rotate point and never take off, all a bit odd and annoying.

the other thing is that when I decompile my FS9 ai flightplans i get which I dont recall used to happen back in my FS9 days?
It doesn't seem to affect the aircraft eta or etd times?
//FSXDAYS=False
I know for many FS9 has long gone but this has been an up to date fault for both 9 and FSX.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Nunner

Your computer changing config files is troubling indeed.

The //FSXDAYS=False is added by AIFP.

Yes my old PC no issues but new PC coupled with FSX Steam and Windows 11 was the start.
I'm no expert but I have tried everything I know.
The one thing I do know is if I copy an old .cfg to that aircraft it seems to work okay, then when I close down FS and reopen the aircraft misbehaved, then I look at the .cfg it has changed.
I can't recall if it did before but every aircraft adds a .cfgBAK file.
I can't see anything else being altered barr that line.
This originally started when I loaded Fsx Steam about 6 months ago after having no issues since my original FS98 and FS9 days.
The only connection I have is new PC, FsxSteam and Windows 11.
Thanks for your reply.

Further to my thread regarding my Aircraft.cfg being altered it would seem the culprit is AIFP3 Flight Planner.
What it appears to do is alter the wing_span= line.
So for instance if I add a repaint HTAI Cessna 152 and build a flightplan for that aircraft, save the plan,compile the plan when I open the Aircraft.cfg it has changed the performance=HTAI Aircraft/ to performance=HTAI Aircraft/HTAI Aircraft/ and worse it changed the wing_span=26 to wing_span=4 and I then assume that is what is causing the Aircraft to behave very oddly to say the least.
I haven't checked the remainder of the .cfg lines but I do know that when I amend the lines back the aircraft behaves normally until I then add another aircraft to the flightplan.
This is in FS9 but I also had the same problem in FSXSE.
Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Further to my last thread I have,I hope, I have finally worked out the culprit and it appears to be something in the AIFP3 utility that is causing the Aircraft.cfg to be changed and then that then makes my AI aircraft behave very oddly.
Via ChatGP he,she,they confirmed there was indeed an issue so what I eventually did was go back to AIFP2 and dont ask me why but I no longer have the Aircraft.cfg being altered and all my AI aircraft are behaving themselves.
Anyway just in case anyone is having issues with their aircraft it may well be that.

Thanks for the detail ... I only use AIFP3 as a format converter, from FSX to FS9, and found that there were several options/settings that needed to be adjusted to perform my required function without causing issues.
It is a very comprehensive and capable program, but as is so often the case with these things, one needs to be aware of the defaults and to compensate if necessary.
Good luck :)

Thanks Chris it is indeed a fantastic program and no doubt I will use version 3 again at some point.
Just a pity I wasn't aware of the issue but I guess even with FS9 it is still a learning curve.
