• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 FS9 Scenery Effects from FSX

Following on from my previous post, I wanted to make a separate thread to keep this information separate and easily accessible for anyone who encounters the same.
I've got a library of effect files to be used on scenery, but whenever these are exported nothing happens. The files originally came from FSX, but from heavily scrutinising the properties in MCX I cannot figure out at all why these won't load in FS9, especially considering MCX works in 'FSX environment'. When I try to re-export the lights for Eiresim's Alicante, which also uses effects, they work just fine, so I see no reason why effects attached with the same logic won't be able to export from my ported bgl.

I've also experimented with replacing these effects with stock FS9 ones, but the same issue arises, just for anyone wondering why these are all aliased to ported FSX effects. The current effects loaded are default effects just with the texture and name changed so the logic stays the same, but even not doing this didn't fix anything.

Do you get an error when you try to export them to fs2004 mdl or does the effect just not show in the sim?

Doesn't show in the sim, there's nothing obvious in any output files. I've sent you the original bgl.
