• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSDS Attach Light Effects

Hi all,

My question has to do with attaching light effects on FSDS3.5 to be used in FSX.

I have succesfully attached a light effect on a single object by following from farfyscenery (excellent tutorials) http://farfyscenery.katuu.com/Tutorials/Adding an effect to a object made with FSDS 3.5.1.htm

The problem is when trying to duplicate the same object,(i.e. to get multiple objects with light effects on a single MDL) always ending up with an error during MDL compiling (XtoMDL) and resulting in an object with no lights at the end....:confused:Any ideas on how to go around this?

Many thanks
Emilios

Hi Guys.

All you need to do is open the PartDataDefs.txt and copy and paste the part you what as many times as you need but you need to change the name, look at the screen shot.

By doing this you can use the same effect as many times as you want on the same object.

Emilios if that doesn’t work do as my buddy frits said and drop me a line I will fix you up.

No, I am sorry this method of making a light beam is for FSX only.

The landing light effect can easely be used for "light", like other light effects (but always follow the Farfy's receipe). For the beam, wait for the tutorial!
