• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSDS v3.5 texture problem

Can anyone tell me why when I create an object (say a rectangle)and apply textures, three side show the texture and one side is black, it doesn't happen all the time. This shows up in the solid view within FSDS and also when installed into FSX. I see it happen more often when I texture a hiproof for a building as an example, one section of the roof is black. Thank you.

I am not 100% sure what is happening to your project, But if you are applying texture by the F4 key you might try putting texture on with the Polygon mode instead. With this method you have to put textures on one side at a time but it dose seem to make them work better if the part is an odd shape. Something to note here I have found and I have seen other post here about this, but if you put textures on with F4 you can change textures on the part later but I have not been able to change textures on apart later if I applied them using the polygon mode. So I save my work as a temp before I put the texture on so if I need to I can go back and make changes.

If you put the texture in polygon mode, you would remove them in the F4 (texture) dialog by clicking on "remove all polygon textures".

Actually I create boxes (or 99% of the time, I do hardly ever use polygon), then click on the part menu and move down to the textures and apply textures from there and it covers all sides, top and bottom. I am not familiar with the F4 key method and have never used it.

F4 is the shortcut for menu clicks.... no biggie.
