• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSDS V3 perspective view errors

Hi all. Been searching all over the place for someone having the same issues and a solution to it. I used to have a Nvidia 9800GTX that finally bit the barn. So I went out and got myself a Nvidia 450GTS. While I love the new card, I am running into issues with both FSDS and VASS. In FSDS, I am missing polys from textured parts, and/or missing complete parts. Now this is only happening in the 3d view window, and not in the side, front or top wireframe views.
In VASS, the display is flipping polys, and/or joining vertexes. But in VASS if I switch to software rendering, all is fine.
I have updated to the latest 266.xx drivers, and updated DirectX, and even tried rolling back to 260.99 drivers with absolutely no difference.
I am in the middle of a project and would really like to resolve this without buying another card, but if I cannot fix this with this card, is there a Nvidia card that is compatible with FSDS and VASS that produce the same hi FPS in FSX and FS9?

As replied at that "other" FS Design forum:

From Adam:

Just to verify - you are using FSDS v3.5x right? The change to 3.5.1 was to add the attachpoints - no changes to display.

Old suggestions include changing the number of colors on the Windows Desktop to 16-bit instead of 24 or 32-bit - all though I'm not sure how to do that in Windows Vista or 7... or if you even can...

The only other thought is that the ability to display the textures in the Perspective View relies on DLLs/drivers from Martin Wright - the author of the DXTBMP program. These are installed when FSDS is installed but perhaps they are not functioning properly? Might want to install the DXTBMP from Martin directly http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/

In the past with new video cards and drivers, there used to be all sorts of strange display problems with FSDS and FS Repaint and VASS - then after a month or two with a driver update - the problem went away. Seems strange to have tried older drivers to no avail though...

Thanks Felix, I responded to Adam's email he sent me. I am really hoping that I don'T have to buy another new card just to fix this.
