• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

In FSDS3 I have made a box and textured it and I wish to place it on the roof of a building but no matter what I set in the elevation field the object sits on the ground. Can I actually sit the object on a roof and what is the function of the elevation field please?

Could you please give us a bit more info?

If the building in question is one that you made with FSDS then simple add the box to it in that program

If the building is not something you have made with FSDS then could you tell us which FS you are using, with program and or method you are using to make your scenery.

Farfy :D

Elevation field in FSDS

Thanks for the reply
I placed the building with Instant Scenery in FS2004 then tried to sit a box on top that I created with FSDS but the box always sits on the ground no matter what value I place in the elevation field for the project properties.

I have now found out that Instant Scenery can read the bgl files from FSDS and I have sucessfully placed the box where i want it.

Now I have hit another stumbling block because when I transfer the scenery files to my other computer I can't display any objects. I used AFX to create the airport alterations and Instant Scenery to place all the objects but only the AFX alterations show on my other computer but none of the Instant scenery objects.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Missing objects

Thanks for the reply
Yes I have set up the scenery folders.
My background is in FS since FS3 but these Object libraries are new to me. I have loaded all the bgl files into my other PC but then the instructions say I have to get the add-on libraries and the library models that I have used and I have no idea what they mean and where to find them on my PC and where to load them into my other PC.

Hope I am making myself clear.
