• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Library visual identification

Hi,
Some months ago I downloaded a brilliant utility which shows up all the FSX objects as thumbnails with the relevant details which makes selection a doddle.
I have lost it  None of the 'zips' or installed utilities give me a clue!
Can anybody help me locate a similar/same utility as I am putting in several local VFR reference objects but don't know what exactly shows up until I restart FSX.

I promise to rename it, pin it, favourite it etc in future :D

Thanks

Charlie

JUST FOUND THE ANSWER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SUBMIT PAGE. It is a URL: http://lc0277.nerim.net/sceneobjects/

found it - NOT

Jose,
Thanks for the response.
I have started using it since I found it subsequently located a Chemical tank (ag_chemtank) and a cooling tower (gen_nucplant01) which are close enough for my purposes.
I use Library Object Manager for my placements, and neither show up in the selection list. I believe LOM is accurate, so back to square 1 looking for a tool which actually shows thumbnails for those I have on the system rather than those which may exist elsewhere.

Cheers

Instant Scenery Incompatible

lance,
located the software and downloaded/installed the demo. FSX failed to load with a 'Fatal Error' message. It seems that IS is incompatible with FSX SP1 (see SP1 thread).
Will keep a lookout for fixes for this as it seems to fit the bill and is cheap enough for the occasional use.

Cheers

Instant Scenery V1.02 OK

Folks,
Instant Scenery version 1.02 IS compatible with FSX and does a good job extracting MOST objects into thumbnails. The demo is an older version and does not work, applying the 1.02 upgrade file caused a licence failure so I bit the bullet and bought it 'unseen'.
Another problem with my system occurred however. It needs a maximised windowed FSX to create the thuumbnails and I found that Alt+Enter from full screen produced a garbled image of FSX when the maximise icon was clicked. Not sure if a FSX error or a driver issue. manually enlarging the window did as well however and I can now locate specific objects and place them accurately.

Thanks for the advice Lance, now works a treat:D
