• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Model Viewer

Is there any model viewer that will display FSX aircraft models in all three axes (top, side, front) with a grid so that positions like light, doors, engines, etc, can be viewed and measured from the reference point. There is a program for FS2004, and before models, that will do it (Aircraft Container Manager). It will not allow viewing of FSX native models. Model Converter X will view the models but it does not make views in all three axes with a grid. Thanks, Bob.

Hi Bob,

Modelconverterx can show the 3 axes and show a grid of which you can configure the size. But it won't show all 3 views at the same time. Would that still work for you?

Hi Arno. Is this for the old version or a new version? I was never able to get the three orthogonal views one at a time. If it can that's great! I want to use it for contact points, light positions, etc. Thanks and best regards, Bob.

Hi Bob,

I don't remember when I added the feature, could be after the 1.3 release, but I think it was before. In the toolbar there is a drop down menu where you can select the view you want.

WOW -- I really liked ModelConverterX, but now I love it!! I've been working on repainting aircraft, and using FS-Repaint to view the work-in-progress. But it doesn't show all aircraft (mostly, it works on default FSX planes, but doesn't work for payware). Now I learn that MCX can display aircraft MDL files, and switches almost instantly between different liveries. This is fabulous!!

Thanks so much for the wonderful tool, Arno! :D
