FSX/P3D : Abidjan Airport (DIAP) Ivory Coast

This is a nice destinatin and great scenery for africa. Thank you for doing this. I have installed the new Version in P3DV4. I do not have any trees. in the city. I use orbx trees. Is there any Chance to get the trees as shown on your pics?
Also some texture files do not show up in my scenery. I did not had this Problems (textures/trees) with v.07. How do I get them? Please help. I am looking forward to fly next virtual to Abidjan DIAP. Thanks!

Cheers,
Fabian

Hey Fabian !

Thank you for your screens, I have the same missing textures, I don't know how and why they aren't in the texture folder anymore, I'll see that for the next version.

For the trees, that's strange too, all the trees in the scenery are some PalmTrees or some Acacias, normaly there is a lot of those !
Do Orbx Trees deleted the Acacias ? I don't use it so I really don't know, in the previous version you were able to see them because it was some "Chestnut", but those trees doesn't exist in Africa, I choosed them because of their color but at winter they became snowy or they died and it was completely irealist for Africa ,the acacia is very "green" aswell and all the time so it was perfect !
If it's easy to uninstall orbx trees you should try without to see if it's the problem ...

Did you see the Palmtrees around the Airport Terminal Parking ?

Hi Alex,

thank you for your quick reply. At the moment I am not alIowed to load up some more pics. But I have deinstalled DIAP Abidjan V0.8 and installed
DIAP Abidjan V07
. Here I have all tress and textures. So it is not a question of the deinstalling the ORBX Trees. Why do I lose them from Version 07 to Version 08? And what happened to the textures? Please do not get me wrong. I like your scenery a lot. I just want to use it in V08 as shown on your pics. Thanks.

Cheers,
Fabian

Yes, I just said that I changed the trees who were some Chestnut to some Acacia, and you can't see the acacias, but I don't know why, that must be Orbx trees because with the default textures everyone see them !

For the missing textures on some building I deleted them, my mistake they will be back for the 0.9, no worries.

Thank you too !

Working on a big update of the photoground, more range, more autogen, better colorimetry and adaptation in the default ground ...

Nice to have some feedback ! :)

Working on the first new buildings of the Airport, some of them was present in the oldest version like the 0.5 or something like that, but they were very badly done and the textures were really simple and ugly ! I deleted them all and i'm working on some all news !

Sanstitre.jpg

I'm working too now on a "Stacked texture system ?" i see a lot of users here to use that, less texture , less scenery size and less Ram used, awesome !

fezds.jpg

(Textures are in DDS 1024x1024, jpg here because not converted at the moment !)

I took a lot of picture at the airport last afternoon, they will help me a lot to make other textures !

I would love to add some planes on the tarmac, do someone has a libary for low poly static planes ?

Nice Work Alex! The Autogen is so important for me, when there is a photoscenery. Unfortunately even payware sometimes lacks in this regard.

I haven't tried it yet, but I definitely will make the trip out there soon :)

How are you doing the autogen?

For the missing trees: Without more information it is kind of hard to say... but the houses seem to show up, so there should not be an exclusion. Are the treetypes the same everywhere or should there be a different type of trees?

Thank you !

Yes of course for me too, a photo scenery without autopen is flat and ugly ! :)

I'm working on it with Annotator, scenproc + OSM for the base files, but on those country a lot of things are missing so I'm adding everything with Annotator.
OSM Added me like 500 building for all Abidjan, that's ridiculous but it helped me a little, all the trees are placed by myself.

There's no houses where the autogen is missing, you can see it on the first screen at the right of the runway, that's strange because it could be the other default Afcad who put this "Green field" around the airport, and this green grass delete the autogen in the airport area but there is not this field at this place ...

Yes, OSM coverage can be very poor, I had the same problem (0 buildings :D) But I used JOSM to edit the OSM data and used that with scenproc. JOSM is a little more comfortable than the annotator. Also I can give you the tipp of looking into QGIS, which is a great and free tool to handle all autogen matters (in combination with scenproc of course)

I'll go to check this "JOSM", Annotator is a quite slow soft too with some big areas !

Yes OSM is sometime incomplete, and In Africa it's worse ...

What is QGIS so ? Interesting !

Salut Alex753

Des nouvelles de la mise a jour 0.9?
Comptes tu rendre full compatible ta scène avec p3dv4?
Merci

Hello !

I just released after a some months the beta 0.9 version of the Abidjan DIAP Scenery,

c86c39_f84d2dfb1ba145b9aef8b99c7a94a43d~mv2.jpg

It's clearly the biggest update for this scenery that I ever made, the area treated by the scenery has been extended by approximatively 4, the scenery and its photoground fit perfectly with the Fs default or Orbx ground of the area, and I added a lot of autopen trees and building around all of this, there still be a lot of work to do for the 1.0 release but it's already looking great I think !

Here is the link, as always !: https://alexandnicosimulation.blog4ever.com/abidjan-diap-1

Don't hesitate to share the scenery if you liked it or to post some screens of you flying on, its very motivating to see that some people enjoy to fly over my scenery !
Thank's for all your support,

Alex

@grandfred29, La scene est désormais parfaitement compatible avec P3D V4 !

Hello Alex,

i downloaded the scenery and have an elevation problem with the airport. Not sure where it is coming from. Vector AEC is deactivated. I also was little wondering why the ALT_bgl has 12kb whereas all my other ALT-files only have 1kb. Any idea what it could be?

Hi David,

Did you try with Vector enabled and disabled for the airport. Using the Auto tool for AEC doesn't work for every airport, and sometimes you need to manually disable it in the lists below.

Also note this post below the download link on the website:

"If you use a Landclass like Orbx or Mesh on this area, take care to remove the "DELETE_IF_ORBX.BGL" file in the scenery and it should work fine."

Cheers,

Hi Alex,

Great work and thankyou very much for sharing your efforts with the community. It really looks great.

I will second David's recommendation of QGIS. It's a very handy freeware GIS tool which can be used for imagery, shapefiles and much more.
