I remember from FS9 that you should not have a scenery folder without a texture folder if memory serves. OK this was true for 3D models and such. On the other hand, landclass scenery only had a scenery folder, and was kept outside 3D stuff (had its own folder with a scenery subfolder).
OK...now to FSX: Currently I have made scenery files with SBuilder (flattens and grass), Instant Scenery (MS models) and ADE (new ENGM airport aprons, gates and boundary fences. For a while I had no textures. So I kept all my files in a scenery folder only, and there was no problems in FSX. But now I have added a gmax model with a texture, so there is a new texture folder present. Can I keep all this stuff in my current folder structure with scenery and texture folders? As I see it, this is no problem. I checked the Cloud9 ENBR scenery, and it is the same structure there. I guess flattens with new grass textures is not really pure landclass?
Cheers,
